Free Personalized Wedding Websites

A popular wedding trend is engaged couples setting up a personal wedding website. In 2010, 61% of registering couples used a wedding website to communicate registry information to their guests.

These websites generally feature information about their events, photos of the couple, as well as a brief description of how they met and got engaged. This is a great way to get to know the couple before their wedding and builds anticipation and excitement for the wedding. There are many sites out there that provide these services. I wanted to share some recommendations that are free to use:

www.theknot.com ~ This site allows you to have a personal web address on theknot.com. Couples can choose the free wedding website. With the free wedding website, it allows you to have your personal web address on TheKnot.com; choose from unique new designs; tell your story; share your gift registry; and upload photos.

Note:  theknot.com does offer a premium wedding website which has a little more to offer such as your personal .com address (ex. John-Lisa.com); 30+ customizable designs; unlimited photo uploads; flash animation templates and music and video upload. This does, however, require a subscription.

www.weddingchannel.com ~ This site is an affiliate of theknot.com and also allows you to have a personal web address. Couples can share their gift registry (all your registries on one page); choose from 100+ color/design variations; tell your story; multiple photo upload + links to external photo albums; and shop matching wedding items.

www.ewedding.com ~ This site allows you to create a personal website that offers unlimited photos, events, and RSVP's for your guest list. You can also post directions and registries.

www.mywedding.com ~ This site allows you to choose a variety of different designs to personalize your page. It also has a feature wherein couples are able to introduce their wedding party to visitors on their site.

Creating a personalized wedding website is a fun and creative way to share your story and give details of your upcoming wedding activities, photos, etc. There are so many types to choose from, and creating one will be as fun for your guests as you!

Latest Wedding Trends

Wedding trends are constantly changing. I found a great article that I wanted to share from website, Articlesbase.com about the latest wedding trends. It’s not only the divas of haute couture that set and change trends on a seasonal basis but the wedding planners too. With the ominous threat of global warming expected to scupper all our plans, the overwhelming trend this year is ‘Go Green’.

Brides are choosing organic materials and fibers for their gowns but they are also opting for soft flowing materials that cling seductively to the body. Ruffled hems, satin sashes and sparkling crystal, glass or beads as a glittering embellishment to the end product are also very much en vogue.

White out, colors all the rage

Instead of the traditional white dress, brides are also leaning towards more colour with champagne, ivory, pink and platinum the order of the day. This opens up all sorts of exciting possibilities as far as the rest of the decor goes. With dedicated wedding stockists offering a wide array of linen for hire, including napkins and table cloths, there is virtually every hue and color under the sun up for grabs to enhance the overall color palette of the big day.

Hand tied posies replace the formality of the corsage

Even the traditional wedding blooms are no longer the imperious and formal arrangements of the days of yore. Hand-tied posies with wide satin ribbons have effectively replaced the decorum of the traditional corsage and wild, organic flowers are now the preferred choice of the bride and her groom.

The rose seems to have endured, however, primarily because of its traditionally silent message of love, but other favored varieties include simple peonies, Inca lilies, hydrangeas and tulips.

The centerpieces of the bridal table are also shifting more to au natural. A seasoned winner is to hire glassware in the shape of an enormous vase and then fill it with natural pretties such as sea shells, beach pebbles, crystals, beads or even fresh and dried berries or other fruit.

Food on the move encourages guests to mingle

The wedding fare has also had its fair share of tweaks and transformations with the eco-friendly theme top of any chef’s agenda. Instead of formal sit-down banquets, the inclination is toward uncomplicated, less formal offerings. A good idea is to hire the relevant catering equipment and set up a number of individual food stations for guest to gather around or to simply have a wide selection of ‘bowl food’ to pass around amongst the guests.

Another recent development is the inclusion of big, comfortable couches, ottomans and cushions in the wedding environment. They not only make the most relaxed photo shoot opportunities but allow for more intimate moments between the bridal couple and their friends and family. So if you’re looking for comfort on your wedding day, make for the furniture rental experts.

Longer, personalized celebrations

Personalized venues and much longer celebrations seem to be the flavor of the year. So if you are off to a wedding anytime soon, best you be setting a couple of days aside for the pre-wedding boat trips, breakfasts and the occasional cricket match.

Below is a video from Platinum Weddings (on WeTV), explaining what's popular in wedding changes with the seasons.

If you are looking for a warm and intimate wedding reception, consider a fall wedding. As people start thinking about coming home more, and spending more time with their families, it's a romantic time for a wedding, but for now...

Happy Planning!

Fall Weddings ~ Get Inspired...

Fall Collage by Carly of Inspiring Brides

Fall is almost here. Can you believe it??? Fall weddings are my personal favorite. I love the colors, the changing of the leaves, and yes I like the cool weather.

According to the knot.com:
  • 4% of weddings take place in September, the most popular month for weddings.
  • 12% of weddings take place in October, the third most popular month.
  • 6% of weddings take place in November, which ranks ninth in popularity.
One of my favorite bloggers for ideas is Carly of Inspiring Brides. Her inspiration for Fall 2009 is Pomegranate & Peach Rustic Weddings.

"Fall is on it's way, and it brings with it some lovely late summer/ early fall color palettes. I am really liking this burgundy and peach combo! This board was created for a bride who is planning a barn wedding that incorporates fruit and wood into a lot of the elements. I'm definitely in love with fruit centerpieces (maybe pomegranates and peaches? or cranberries?) and the carved wood table numbers."

Check out her fall inspiration collage:

Are you inspired? I know I am, but for now...

Happy Planning!
