Adding "Bling" to Your Closet with Hangers

In addition to the many clothes that adorn our closets ladies, how about adding a little "bling" to your closet with hangers, yes hangers.  During my search for locating luxury vendors for An Intimate Bridal Affair Chicago, I came across Hangers Couture.  Hangers Couture are designer beaded hangers and a are a great way to display find garments or delicate fabrics, and will add that feminine touch to any Bride or Bridesmaid's closet and home.

Hangers Couture was founded by Brittney Zeller.  She was inspired by a trip to Scandinavia. Exploring her family roots brought her to a quaint seaside village in Sweden.  She came upon a boutique that carried linens and home decor also had a beautiful display of lingerie and plush robes all hanging on elegant beaded hangers. The hangers drew her to the display, as she had never seen clothes showcased in such an exquisite way. Throughout the rest of her travels in Scandinavia, she found that displaying clothes on beaded hangers was not unique to that one store. Realizing that she had never seen them in the United States, she wanted to find a way to bring them to closets and boutiques stateside.

Boudoir Photography :: A Boudoir Experience for the Bride



Boudoir :: is French for a woman's private sitting room, dressing room, or bedroom, a place where a woman is able to decorate in rich colors, an enjoyable place where a woman can dress leisurely, a relaxing place.

The latest phenomena that I've been seeing on my journey of wedding planning is boudoir photography for the bride. One may think that this is too sexy or sensual for a bride to partake in. Well it sounds sexy because it is, however, it's really about letting your inner sexiness out that's been screaming for months and for years to come out.

What is Boudoir Photography?

According to TheKnot.com, "boudoir photos are usually taken wearing either just a little, or well, nothing at all. They're hardly X-rated though, but rather PG-13 -- as in classic pinup-inspired pics, or what the pros call 'implied nudes.' That means you're not wearing anything, but you're also not showing off anything either (think shot from the back, or lying on your stomach)."

Boudoir photographs take place in the privacy of your home, your bedroom or in the space you choose.  This really depends on your level of comfort.  You are able to make these photographs sultry, sexy, playful, or all of the above.  Your boudoir photographs would be the perfect gift to your soon to be husband.

There are wedding photographers who specialize in boudoir photography and there are photographers who specialize in boudoir photography exclusively.  Whatever your level of comfort is will be based on you choose to be your boudoir photographer.  I have seen that most photographers who specialize in it are female photographers. 

There will of course be a Boudoir photographer present at An Intimate Bridal Affair in Chicago on January 25, 2012, as well as the other events that will take place in Miami, New York, Atlanta, DC and Houston.  So for those brides-to-be who are interested and not afraid to let their sexy out for their soon to be husband, this will be the perfect place to be to have one on one consultations with a boudoir photographer.

An Intimate Bridal Affair for the Luxury Bride

In January 2012, Glitz  Event Design will embark on its first ever bridal event, An Intimate Bridal Affair™.

An Intimate Bridal Affair™ will not be your ordinary Bridal event. What will make this event different from any other Bridal event is that this will be a Bridal experience for the bride-to-be, not your ordinary Bridal event where the bride goes from table to table to sample makeup, food & sweets.

The first Intimate Bridal Affair™ taking place in January 2012 will be at Hotel Palomar Chicago, a Kimpton Hotel, which sets “art in motion” located in Chicago's River North neighborhood.  This luxury hotel offers exceptional accommodations and personalized attention for an unforgettable stay. Is Wearing Color the "new" White for Today's Bride?

Out with the old, in with the new...who says you have to wear white on your wedding day?  The days of just bridesmaids wearing "color" down the aisle is becoming obsolete.  For the upcoming 2012 wedding season, I've noticed that designers have designed dresses for brides in different colors, not just the traditional white.

It has been customary for a bride to wear white on her wedding day.  However, these days brides are choosing to wear what they want, whether it is white, bold colors (red, green gold), neutral colors (ivory or pink), or a short or long gown.  It is common for different cultures to wear different colors other than white on their wedding day, but not common for American culture.  "Old school" parents, grandparents, etc., may have a problem with their daughter and/or granddaughter wearing anything but white on her wedding day because it has always been tradition to wear white.

Vera Wang's 2012 Spring Collection offers bold colors for the "modern" bride.  Below are a few pictures of Vera Wang's 2012 bridal collection.  I love the bold colors.

These different colors will definitely have the bride stand out from the crowd and give guests something to talk about for years.

Would You Wear a "Rented" Wedding Dress?

Last week during my ride on the train, I overheard two ladies discussing wedding dresses.  I wasn't sure if one of the ladies was getting married or if they knew of someone getting married.  However, they were both discussing how expensive wedding dresses are.  So one of the ladies suggested to the other that she "rent" a wedding dress which brings me to ask this question, "would you wear a rented wedding dress?"

Many brides may feel renting a dress is a great idea since it is only worn that one day.  Since the majority of grooms rent the tux for the wedding, a bride may feel it should be okay for her to rent her dress.  Keep in mind that your wedding day is a once in a LIFETIME experience.  I know many brides have dreamed of there wedding day since they were a little girl and even though the dress may never be worn again, memories are to be cherished of that special day, shared with their children, grandchildren, etc., and the wedding dress is a huge part of the wedding experience.

While renting may be a good money saving option, keep in mind that the dress may not be altered to fit the bride because it is rented.  If you are on a tight budget, another suggestion may be to purchase a "used" wedding dress.  However, many of the bridal stores have great sales on their wedding dresses, some as low as $99.

Many wedding traditions are specific to cultures, but there is one component of the ceremonies that generally remains universal:  the beautiful, delicate dress of the bride.  So keep that in mind when you are deciding whether or not to rent, buy used or purchase a new wedding gown for your once in a lifetime experience.

A New Wedding Experience -- from a Wedding Planner's Perspective...

Events by Candace will be closing its doors soon and launching a new wedding experience in May 2011.  The reason being is that we want our full attention to be exclusively to our brides and grooms to be.  It is important that our brides have a beautiful, exciting and calm experience during their wedding planning.  The NEW experience will consist of a talented team that will work together to ensure that our brides will have sparkle and glitz with a touch of vintage elegance so that her wedding will be unlike anything that her friends and family have ever seen...

Do you want to be part of this exciting experience?  Are you a bride who wants full attention throughout the chaos during her wedding experience?  The fabulous Coco Chanel said it best, "a girl should be two things:  classy & fabulous," and that's exactly how we look at our brides and she will be treated as such during her wedding experience.

This has been an exciting journey and I am humbled and honored to all of those that supported me at the beginning of my wedding planning journey that started in 2008 and to those I have met along the way. In every business, you grow and evolve. I am not leaving the wedding industry (because truly I LOVE what I do), I am merely ending this chapter of this exciting wedding journey and starting a NEW one so that I am able to give brides a far better experience...
