Aloha from Hawaii...I wish!!!

Tropical Elegance from blumebox

Baby it's cold outside!  This weeks temperatures in Chicago range from 13° to the high 20s with flurries.  Being a Chicagoan all of my life, I am used to the cold temps but that doesn't mean I wouldn't rather be somewhere else that is WARM.

With that being said, I was inspired to share with you a breathtaking destination spot for your wedding...Hawaii.  If you are looking to have a beautiful tropical island wedding, Hawaii is top of my list.

Oh and by the way Mid Westerners, the weather in Maui is high 70s to 85°.  *smile*

So as I dream of warm temps, beautiful sunshine and nice tropical breezes, I found some beautiful pictures from AlohaIslandWeddings.comEnjoy!

Weddings at Wynn Las Vegas

This month during my vacation I stayed at Wynn Las Vegas. I chose the Wynn as my Destination Wedding spot for the month. The Wynn itself is an absolutely fabulous hotel. I could not be at this wonderful hotel without visiting their stunning wedding facilities.

The senior wedding consultant, Mildred Schneidman gave me a thorough tour of The Wedding Salons at Wynn Las Vegas, as well as all the different ballrooms and restaurants in both Wynn and Encore.

Your Wedding at The Wedding Salons at Wynn Las Vegas will be an event you'll remember for a lifetime. They have created a setting that is at once elegant, distinctive and calming. Every wedding at Wynn Las Vegas begins with preferential check-in and a special welcome amenity. For the intimate Affair, Wynn, Jewish Celebration and Elegant Affair Ceremonies, your wedding at Wynn Las Vegas will begin with a private limousine to meet you at the airport and take you directly to the courthouse for your marriage license. Your wedding will place in their exquisite Wedding Salons. There are three salons to accommodate your needs:
  1. The Lilac Salon: most intimate setting, the Lilac Salon accommodates 65 guests comfortably and is for smaller ceremonies.
  2. The Lavender Salon: Larger than the Lilac Salon but designed to preserve the intimacy of the moment, seats 120 guests.
  3. Primrose Court: {my personal favorite} The Primrose Court is a private courtyard where you can host a day or evening wedding celebration. With seating for up to 100 guests, Primrose Court lies under a canopy of trees and is surrounded by flowers and two whispering fountains. It is also available for pre-event cocktails, cake and champagne following the wedding or for an intimate after-event cocktail party for up to 70 guests.

Catering, floral services, photography and videography are all included in your wedding ceremony. At the Wynn and Encore pool, Cabanas are also available for rental for the bridal party. Wynn also has a spectacular spa that all of your guests and/or wedding party can indulge in and there is a Wynn Golf Club for the men and/or women who want to indulge in a little golf during their stay.

If you are looking for somewhere different to get married or if you have family from all parts of the world, Las Vegas is a fantastic destination to host your wedding celebration. There is so much to do in Las Vegas: shopping, restaurants, shows, concerts, clubs and of course gambling. Your guests will not be bored.

Las Vegas is the host of many weddings a year for any budget. If you want an elegant wedding in Las Vegas for your family and friends to experience, I would highly recommend Wynn Las Vegas. As I mentioned above, there is so much to do at Wynn and Encore Las Vegas alone, a wedding there will be an experience of a lifetime for both you, your family and friends, but for now...

Happy Planning!

Destination Weddings

Photo: Courtesy of The Knot
Taken in Vanua Levu, Fiji

Along with planning weddings in Chicago and the surrounding suburbs, I also plan Destination
Weddings. Starting in July and each month thereafter I am going to feature my favorite Destination spot for a Destination Wedding. Some may ask what is a Destination Wedding or why have a Destination Wedding. Below are some frequently asked questions regarding Destination Weddings. I hope after reading this, you will have a better understanding and appreciation for those who want to marry in another State, tropical island or even out of the country.

Frequently Asked Questions:

1. What exactly is a destination wedding?

When a couple decides that they want to exchange their vows and celebrate their love in a dream location that they and their guests will have to travel to, they are deciding on a Destination Wedding. Destination weddings often take place in tropical areas such as the Caribbean, Mexico, or Hawaii. Others decide to celebrate their wedding in Europe, South America or the South Pacific. The entire wedding party will travel to the destination and enjoy a long weekend - or an entire week - and be on vacation while attending the wedding.

2. Why plan a Destination Wedding?

There are many reasons to choose a destination wedding. Many couples look to a destination wedding as a way to have a unique and memorable wedding experience. Often, when looking at a guest list, many people will have to travel from far away states or countries. A destination wedding allows them to travel somewhere exotic and fabulous, where they can also enjoy a relaxing vacation; as opposed to asking guests to book a flight and hotel in a less exciting hometown. Some couples are in love with the destination, and want to spend the most special day of their lives in their idea of paradise. More couples decide upon a destination wedding as they are from different areas of the country, and do not want to decide against one hometown for another, so they opt to go to a location that will, from now on, be somewhere special to each of them. One of the most common reasons to choose a destination wedding is to save money. Destination Weddings often allow couples to save upwards of $20,000 versus a traditional wedding!

3. Is a Destination Wedding right for us and our Guests? Are there certain people, such as close family or friends, without whom you would not have your wedding? If so, we suggest that you poll these guests to see if attending your Destination Wedding is feasible for them.

4. How far in advance should I plan my destination wedding? This really varies with the destination. One major factor is how many guests are going to be invited. For a traditional wedding a month or two is acceptable notice for "Save the Date" cards. Destination Weddings however involve travel arrangements, and therefore should be sent out at least 4-6 months in advance. This is to allow the guests to properly budget and plan for the trip, and to make sure that they are able to obtain reservations.

Tip: Destination weddings take considerable planning and research, and the best properties & accommodations often book far in advance of the wedding date. The earlier you begin planning your wedding, the greater the likelihood you will be able to book the perfect property for you and your guests.

There are many Destination Wedding websites and information regarding Destination Weddings. When couples decide to have a Destination Wedding, they usually already have an idea where they want to have their wedding. Start planning your Destination Wedding today, but for now...

Happy Planning!
